The combined fish in was brought about by me being involved with the start of a new region of the PAC in the Wigan area.
Some of their members had shown an interest in trying their hand at different species, catfish, eels, even a sea fishing trip for tope.
We met up at the Crawford Arms pub at Red Rock on the Leeds Liverpool canal on Saturday the 21st of June, 12 people attended. Our idea was to spread ourselves over the full length of the canal, trying to fish in pairs.
Three of us caught including Jon Neafcy, the PAC Wigan regional organiser, who had a pike of 6lb and an eel of 2lb 6oz both to roach section.
Shaun Devlin, PAC member who also had an eel of 2lb to a fish section. And myself with an eel of 2lbish netted by Mark Smethhurst on a roach head.
A very enjoyable night, some of the PAC lads were surprised at the size of the eels caught, they had only ever seen eels in the bait size so a 2lb fish was a bit bigger than they expected.
Lots of interest was shown with the handling of the eels, they seemed to be amazed at the way you can calm an eel down for a photograph.
The Landlady at the Crawford Arms was very helpful and even allowed some of the lads to unlock the gate and drop their tackle off saving quite a substantial walk, also supplying plenty of food and drink.
It was the first of a good trip between both clubs, also a few new members for the NAC.
Myself, Jon Neafcy, Ian Whittaker, Mark Dunbar, Karl Devlin, Shaun Devlin, Keith, Neil Stubbs, Adam, Andy Cooke, Damien Wood, Mark Smethurst attended.
